Is PE toxic and harmful?

The full name of PE is polyethylene, which is a non-toxic chemical substance. It is odorless and non-toxic. It has relatively good low temperature resistance and good chemical stability. It is often used as food packaging bags in daily life.

The PE products that are most exposed to in life are food packaging bags, also known as polyethylene food packaging bags. Such packaging bags themselves are not toxic. However, in the production process of polyethylene packaging bags, other auxiliary components may be added to the production process line, and raw material catalysts may remain in them, which may have certain toxicity, but the toxicity is small. Such unqualified products are usually returned, and packaging bags that have no toxic effect on the human body can be used in the market through food safety inspections. In addition, when the food packaging bag is heated, the residual substances in it may be released, resulting in some unknown toxic substances, which may have toxic effects on the human body. Therefore, substances that are harmful to the human body may be produced after heating.

At present, there is no research to confirm that polyethylene products will cause harm to the human body at room temperature.
